elderly?

Well, that is what I used to consider 30 years old to be. But now that I am the BIG 3.0. my feelings have changed a bit!

Today is my birthday. My mom has my heart in Houston my husband and I are going to take full advantage of that. How you ask? My favorite hobby… drinking wine.

So, the synopsis of my kick ass lake party will have to wait until I get back from a small piece of paradise. Here is a sneak peak!

Until then… here is your Olivia fix for the day. Sorry the video is so blurry, but it goes along with my mentality after getting my ass kicked by several 3 pound humans (see below)!

Hope your day is half as fabulous as mine!

XOXO,

Mama T

dada

Not only is it her favorite word… I think it is her favorite person.

Jealous? A little. But really, how lucky am I? These two A.D.O.R.E. each other and I could not be more pleased.

She will do anything for this man, even if it means flipping her mama the bird (I am sure this will not be the last time this happens).

He asks her what a cow says? “Mooooo” she says in her tiny, charming voice. Can I have a smile? She flashes that crooked tooth grin without hesitation. He asks her to say mama? “dada” she replies as she bats her big, beautiful eyes. Can dada have a smooch? She goes in for the kill EVERY time.

Am I in heaven? Absolutely! Each time she runs to greet him at the door, my heart melts a little. I am familiar with the mantra of a “daddy’s girl” and my sweet baby fits the bill… hook, line and sinker.

What did we do on this blessed day? We definitely did some celebrating.

Some grubbing… the dada, the mama, the baby and some grossly large catfish.

Finished off with some awesome music and a little sweet slow dancin’.

So happy father’s day my love (sorry for the late shout out)! You are the greatest father… which makes me love you to the moon and back!

birthdays and besties

Birthdays remind you just how important family and friends are… especially first birthdays. Now lets be truthful here… it is really a celebration for the parents and their survival (and their child’s survival for that matter) through the first year of life. The kids have no idea what is going on… until you get to the cake!

Amanda and Kevin are dear friends of ours, and their precious daughter Addison is Olivia’s partner in crime (as reported by RaRa)! Just when you thought these girls could not be more adorable, you put them together.

They are not for the weak hearted my friends!

It is such a blessing to be a part of their lives… they are pretty awesome people! Plus, they are not afraid to return the love! They wrote personal messages to all of their party guests, thanking them for being a part of ‘their village’ and reminding them that they too hold a special place in their hearts.

Amanda and I hope that Addison and Olivia remain good friends throughout life’s journey, and we continue to be the best example we can be! But judging by their warmth for one another… I don’t think we have anything to worry about!

So happy to be in this moment, with all of these wonderful people!

Smiles, rainbows and a worn out child! Could life get any better?

dog for sale

Yes, you read that correctly… Benson is going on Craiglist. What you say? How can you sell such a sweet, handsome dog on Craigslist?

He PISSED on my couch!!!!

See... he can't even look me in the eye. He knows what he has done.

Don’t fret… I am asking a hefty price and making them promise to send me monthly pictures.

Oh, and I didn’t put that he is the smallest dog with the biggest attitude.

No, I didn’t advertise that not only has this sweet dog pissed on my couch… he has also shat and thrown up on my couch.

He has never eaten a hole in my wall or woken up my baby with his incessant barking. That would just be ludicrous.

This is the included picture… doesn’t he look like an angel???

Watch it buddy…the ad is written, all I have to do is hit that little post button.

XOXO Benny,

heaven...

A little of this...

A little of that...

This is shaping up to be quite a nice Saturday evening. Even better... I think there might be some birthday cake in the mix later!

Hope everyone is having an equally enjoyable weekend!

Mama T

Business in the front…

Definitely a party in the back!

Yep, Olivia knows how to rock the mullet. I never thought I would use the words ‘cute’ and ‘mullet’ in the same sentence… but she really does look cute with her curly sue mullet. She even rivals the mullet that my mom received when she went for a trim at Wal-Mart. There are many sentiments to that statement, the obvious being… who in the hell is crazy enough to get their hair cut at Wal-Mart? Well, my mother is, and I still giggle when I think about her ode to Billy Ray Cyrus.

My dilemma is… I absolutely cannot cut her hair. I would be chopping off my dreams of having a curly-haired baby. That is traumatic people. I mean, I have had these dreams since I was 8 years-old and I too wanted to sport a big curly afro (I really did picture it as an afro, it was 1988 after all). So Olivia, my dear, you too are going to rock the camaro cut until someone else takes you to get a haircut… and I am sure you will OWN IT!

mornings

Our mornings around here are dreamy, probably because I am a zombie for the first 2 hours that I am “awake”. After some quality cuddle time in bed, I somehow manage to feed my girl some breakfast and feed myself some coffee.

I LOVE the mornings because it is the only time of day Olivia is not too busy to let me snuggle her. I smell her sweet neck, nuzzle my nose into her cheeks and kiss her precious face until she finally pushes me away. This is 30 minutes of heaven for me. Her reward… biscuits.

Hysterical, I know, but this chic is obsessed with biscuits. It is the only time I can get her to say ‘mo’ (more) and ‘mmmmmm’ (yummy) and she does so with a grin on her face the entire time.

the cheese face

Olivia has the best cheese face of all time. She can spot a camera from a mile away and as soon as you ask her to say cheese she makes the greatest face EVER!

And to boot, she actually said ‘cheese’ this morning when I whipped out the camera… well it was more like ‘sheeeeeezzz’. It probably helps that it is her most favorite food in the world right now.

Hope you are all having a fabulous Friday!!

The down and dirty.

How does one begin to summarize the last 15 months of their life?

Well, I can start by saying that all members of the Hamilton clan are alive, healthy, and smiling (a majority of the time). That counts for something right? Most importantly I think Olivia is turning into one happy, kind, smart, and beautiful little girl!

All bows are placed courtesy of Olivia... she is obsessed.

This is the one thing that terrified me the most… what do you mean Mike and I are responsible for raising a human being? Do I need to take a class? Where do I file for my parenting license? Where are my textbooks and slideshow presentations? Who will be my teacher/supervisor? This is how I have handled everything else in my life! What do you mean my instincts will prevail… how can I rely on freaking instincts??? Well my friends, what everyone has said is true, Olivia will survive and she is doing a damn good job doing so.

I have had some help from the village (aka my support system) and each of them holds an incredibly special place in my heart. Let me introduce my sanity:

Subject #1: my handsome husband! (I initially typed adorable, but it just doesn’t have the same appeal J) I always knew that my rock would be an amazing dad, but the word amazing doesn’t even begin to describe it. He is the best father, and you can see it written all over Olivia’s face anytime he walks into the room! He keeps the eye rolling to a minimum during my post-call lapses of sanity (I do work 24 hour shifts people), he changes dirty diapers, he rubs my feet each night, and most of all, he makes me want to be a better person.

Subject #2: GiGi (aka. my mom). Each time this ah-maz-ing woman rings my phone; I promptly pass the phone to Olivia, as she is no longer looking for me. I am now playing second fiddle to my daughter, and strangely… I could not be happier. GiGi has replaced the word ‘mom’, painted handprint cards from her princess have replaced the poems from her daughter, pictures of us have been replaced by countless pictures of Olivia, and I am no longer the first to receive a hug when she eagerly walks through the door. But you know what this means? She absolutely adores her daughter’s daughter (if I mentioned the word GRANDdaughter she would hunt me down). She can elicit Olivia’s ‘belly laugh’ at the drop of a hat, she lovingly refers to her as ‘princess’ and she treats her like one, and when she is around Olivia almost forgets about the woman who birthed her. I LOVE this woman from the bottom of my soul and she returns that love 10-fold. We are blessed.

Subject #3: PawPaw (my stepdad). He LOVES our little girl and you know how I can tell? He eagerly awaits the opportunity to pull her from my mother’s grasp, he carries her around the yard and talks to her about flowers and tomato plants, he reads her books and wipes the avocado off her face, and anytime she does something, she always looks to make sure he is watching. He can’t help but think she is a piece of paradise after raising me!

Subject #4: Grandpa (my dad). He affectionately calls her Ollie, and I absolutely love it! Just about as much as they love each other. Aside from my two dogs, I think she is his favorite person on the planet. He laughs at her antics, he plays tireless games with her (how many times CAN we put the golf ball in the bag?), and he feeds her goldfish (a sure fire way to win her heart). She is the topic of most of his conversations and he beams with pride each time he gets to hold her. So glad he is a part of her life!

Subject #5: Grandma (Mike’s mom). Olivia’s is one of the most fashionable chicks on the planet thanks to her grandma! She is also going to be one of the smartest because of this wonderful woman. She finds the craziest educational toys; some even give me a run for my money. She constantly reminds Olivia that she is loved through memento’s, phone calls and visits and Olivia lights up at the mere sight of her. She is a wonderful grandma… and for that we could not be more thankful.

Subject #6: Grandpa (Mike’s dad). Each time they are together you can’t help but feel happy. Maybe it is the huge smile plastered on his face anytime she is around. He sings her the ABC song, he refers to her as ‘little dudette’, he will drive for 10 days to see her for 30 minutes, he is the first to comfort her when she is upset, he bounces her until she squeals with delight, and he holds her so close that their cheeks touch… which melts my heart.

Subject #7: RaRa… as Olivia has affectionately named her. She is one of the biggest blessings in our little lives. She is Olivia’s caretaker, but she is so much more than that. Olivia LOVES this woman and I can totally see why. She taught her sign language (which Olivia promptly taught me), she lets her play with paint and markers, she encourages her confidence with cheers, she reads her the same book 50 times in a row, and she lets her play with her food (in a good way). In fact, I am sure she is mostly responsible for shaping my baby into the toddler she is today. You rock Rebecca!

Subject #8: Aunt Kathy. Kathy is my sister from another mother (and from another father for that matter). She is mama’s savior…which relates directly to Olivia’s happiness. Everyone knows when mama’s happy, everyone is happy! She is my favorite wino, the first person I call when I am in tears, my silly (and sometimes grotesque) picture buddy, my nursing outlet, my partner in crime, and I love her more than I should admit. And if you think this is great, you should see her with Olivia.

Whew, that is a lot of people. So next time I am feeling sorry for my self and feel as though I am drowning with no one to throw me a life vest, point me back to this post. It seriously made me smile just thinking of all of these wonderful people.

XOXO,

Mama T

Where did I leave off?

OH, let’s see… 15 months ago, when sweet Liv was still taking up residence in the belly. Wow, a lot has changed since then and our lives are better than ever.

Because of her!

It took me a while to get back over to the blogging world because, quite frankly, I was afraid of creating the words to describe my newfound awesomeness (much like my avoidance of her birth letter). But then I thought about all the moments that have been flying by in a whirlwind and this seems like an awfully good place to put them into the cement of my mind! And you, my lucky friends, get to be a part of our wonderful little lives.

It is not all fun and games… and as of lately we have had a lot of moments like this:

Who knew a 15 month old could be such a diva?

But, I promise to share the good, the bad, and the beautiful moments with you.

So welcome to our new blog, I hope you enjoy seeing our faces again!

Please ignore the giant bruise on my forehead... photoshop and I are no longer on speaking terms.

XOXO,

Mama T
